A variation of Gantry crane is known as Semi-Gantry crane.
Semi-Gantry crane or Semi-Portal crane or Semi-Goliath Crane are similar to Gantry cranes but they have two legs instead of four.
Semi-Gantry crane consists of trolley/ crab which is mounted on bridge structure. The Trolley moves across the bridge. The bridge/ girder is integral part of two legged structure. The legs are mounted on wheels assembly which runs on rails fixed on ground. The other side of bridge is directly mounted on wheel assembly which moves on gantry. These cranes are frequently used in Workshops.
